The brilliant Oscar predictions website awardscircuit.com has had a recent feature where each of it’s editors have named the film/person that will win, who could win, should win and who should have been nominated. This is something that I’m going to have a go at, despite myself seeing less films than them. Also, these aren’t my final predictions, these will come out on Sunday.
Best Picture: Will Win/Should Win: Boyhood, Could Win: Birdman, Should Have Been Nominated: Foxcatcher and Interstellar (not replacing any, just completing the 10).
Best Director: Will Win/Should Win: Richard Linklater (Boyhood), Could Win: Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman), Should Have Been Nominated: To be fair, they got it spot on here.
Best Actor: Will Win/Should Win: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), Could Win: Michael Keaton (Birdman), Should Have Been Nominated: Chadwick Boseman (Get On Up, Instead of Bradley Cooper).
Best Actress: Will Win: Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Should Win/Could Win: Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Should Have Been Nominated: Keira Knightley (Begin Again, Instead of Marion Cotillard).
Best Supporting Actor: Will Win: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Should Win/Could Win: Ethan Hawke (Boyhood), Should Have Been Nominated: Tom Wilkinson (Selma, Instead of Robert Duvall).
Best Supporting Actress: Will Win/Should Win: Patricia Arquette (Boyhood), Could Win: Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game), Should Have Been Nominated: Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Instead of Meryl Streep), Dorothy Atkinson (Mr. Turner, Instead of Keira Knightley).
Best Original Screenplay: Will Win/Should Win: Birdman, Could Win: The Grand Budapest Hotel, Should Have Been Nominated: Selma (Instead of Nightcrawler).
