2015 Television Awards Season Predictions- Part 1 (BAFTAs)

With the major film awards season coming to a close in February, and not starting up again until about September, it’s time to focus on the TV season, with the Emmys being in September and the nominations being announced in a couple of months. I have done my Emmy predictions of GoldDerby, but I’m going to focus on the British Academy Television Awards, as the nominees are announced on Wednesday morning at 7:35 am GMT. Anyway, with no odds or guidance available, I will give a random stab in the dark at who will get the nod.

Best Situation Comedy: Detectorists, Inside No. 9, The Toast of London, The Wrong Mans.

Best Drama Series: Broadchurch, The Honourable Woman, Peaky Blinders, Penny Dreadful.

Best Single Drama: Esio Trot, Marvellous, Tommy Cooper: Not Like This, Like That, That Day We Sang.

Best Contuing Drama: Casualty, Coronation Street, Eastenders, Holby City.

Mini-Series:The Casual Vacancy, Cilla, The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries.

Best Actor: Toby Jones (Marvellous), Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), David Threlfall (Tommy Cooper: Not Like This, Like That), Jason Watkins (The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries).

Best Actress: Gillian Anderson (The Missing), Olivia Colman (Broadchurch), Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Honourable Woman), Sheridan Smith (Cilla).

Best Male Comedy Performance: Mathew Baynton (The Wrong Mans), James Corden (The Wrong Mans), Mackenzie Crook (Detectorists), Toby Jones (Detectorists).

Best Female Comedy: Doon Mackichan (Toast of London), Tamsin Grieg (Friday Night Dinner), Miranda Hart (Miranda), Jessica Hynes (W1A).
