FINAL British Academy Film Awards Nominations Predictions

At 7:35 am GMT tomorrow, host Stephen Fry and Belle’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw will announce the nominees for this year’s BAFTAs, the final major precursor awards show to announce their nominees before the Oscar nominations are announced next Thursday. It’s pretty tight, and there are lots of competition this year. Here’s who I think will be nominated in each category:

Best Film: Brooklyn, Carol, The Martian, The Revenant, Spotlight.

Best British Film: 45 Years, Amy, Brooklyn,  Ex Machina, The Lady in the Van, Suffragette.

Best Director: Todd Haynes (Carol), Alejandro G. Inarritu (The Revenant), Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), Ridley Scott (The Martian), Steven Spielberg (Bridge of Spies).

Best Actor: Michael Caine (Youth), Matt Damon (The Martian), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs), Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl).

Best Actress: Cate Blanchett (Carol), Brie Larson (Room), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn), Maggie Smith (The Lady in the Van).

Best Supporting Actor: Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation), Tom Hardy (The Revenant), Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies), Sylvester Stallone (Creed).

Best Supporting Actress: Rooney Mara (Carol), Rachel McAdams (Spotlight), Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs).

Best Original Screenplay: Bridge of Spies, Ex Machina, The Hateful Eight, Inside Out, Spotlight.

Best Adapted Screenplay: Brooklyn, Carol, The Lady in the Van, Room, Steve Jobs.

Best Animated Feature: Inside Out, The Peanuts Movie, Shaun the Sheep Movie.

Best Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer: Alecky Blythe (London Road), Alexi Kaye Campbell (Woman in Gold), Trevor De Silva (A Royal Night Out), Alex Garland (Ex Machina), John MacLean (Slow West).

Best Film Not in the English Language: A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Girlhood, Hard to be a God, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, Taxi Tehran.

Best Documentary: Amy, Cartel Land, He Named Me Malala, Listen to Me Marlon, The Look of Silence.

BAFTA Fellowship: Sir Ridley Scott.

The nominations for the 69th British Academy Film Awards will be announced at 7:35am GMT, live on facebook.com/bafta.
