FINAL Predictions for Independent Spirit Awards, Golden Raspberry Awards, and MPSE Golden Reel Awards

Happy Oscars Eve everyone! We’ve got a busy night of precursors tonight as we build up towards the big night. We’ve got the Independent Spirit Awards, celebrating the best of independent cinema, the Golden Raspberry Awards, celebrating the very worst of cinema, and the final guild awards of the year, the Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards, which celebrates the very best of sound editing in films this year. Here are my final predictions for each.

Independent Spirit Awards

Jason Segel is nominated for his portrayal of the late author David Foster Wallace in The End of the Tour in Best Male Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Best Feature: Spotlight

Best Director: Todd Haynes- Carol

Best Screenplay: Charlie Kaufman- Anomalisa

Best First Feature: The Diary of a Teenage Girl

Best First Screenplay: Emma Donoghue- Room

Best Male Lead: Jason Segel- The End of the Tour

Best Female Lead: Brie Larson- Room

Best Supporting Male: Idris Elba- Beasts of No Nation

Best Supporting Female: Cynthia Nixon- James White

Best Documentary: The Look of Silence

Best International Film: Son of Saul

Best Cinematography: Ed Lachman- Carol

Best Editing: Tom McArdle- Spotlight

John Cassavetes Award: Heaven Knows What

Golden Raspberry Awards

Adam Sandler is up for 2 Razzie Awards tonight, taking his nomination tally to 22. He is nominated in Worst Actor for his performances in Tom McCarthy’s The Cobbler and Chris Columbus’ Pixels, which is also nominated for Worst Picture.

Worst Picture: Fantastic Four

Worst Director: Josh Trank- Fantastic Four

Worst Actor: Adam Sandler- The Cobbler and Pixels

Worst Actress: Jennifer Lopez- The Boy Next Door

Worst Supporting Actor: Eddie Redmayne- Jupiter Ascending

Mad Max: Fury Road is nominated for 3 MPSE Golden Reel Awards tonight. If it wins in the music category, they’ll have the flamethrower guitar guy to thank.
